Teaching-learning strategies of Mapua recognized in first Times Higher Education (THE) Awards Asia

Mapúa University has been shortlisted in the Times Higher Education (THE) Awards Asia 2019’s Teaching and Learning Strategy of the Year category. The University is the only higher education institution (HEI) from the Philippines that made it to the list of the said category for its teaching and learning strategies known as Digital Day and Digital Rush.

Additive manufacturing (AM) is a manufacturing process in which a digital model is turned into a solid three-dimensional physical object by adding material layer by layer. The Philippine government has identified this as one of the game-changing technologies for the future of industries in the world and is now gearing up for the establishment of the Additive Manufacturing Center (AMCen) at the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) under a Php 500-million DOST Grants-in-Aid (GIA) funding.

Mapua University enters 2019 QS Asia University Rankings

Mapúa University is now a top-ranking Asian university. It has earned a spot in Rank 401 – 450 of the 2019 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings. Mapúa is one of the eight Philippine universities who made it to the list.

“Mapúa’s inclusion in the QS Asian University Rankings is a very big milestone for the University. It gives us a measure of our quality education in relation to other universities of the region based on the various criteria of QS,” said Dr. Bonifacio T. Doma, executive vice president for academic affairs of Mapúa.

Mapua Mechanical Engineering alumni win inaugural golf tournaments

Even after years postgraduation, Mapúa Mechanical Engineering (ME) alumni retain their spirit of competitiveness in sports. This was made evident by their wins in two alumni association golf tournaments.

On August 24, 2018, the Mapúa Alumni Golf Club (MAGC) held its first interschool inaugural tournament at the Royal Northwoods Golf and Country Club. Engr. Peter Pancho, owner of Royal Northwoods, hosted the event with more than 160 alumni participants.

The team of Mapúa’s ME won the perpetual trophy and will defend their title in the 2019 competition.
